Volunteer Opportunities – 6-Month Rotational Engagement
The Africa Education Trust Fund (AETF) is a Pan-African, private-sector-driven initiative dedicated to mobilizing resources to reform Africa’s education system—from early childhood to tertiary education—with the ultimate aim of producing industry-ready graduates and fostering Africa’s industrialization and economic growth.
AETF is seeking committed, talented, and visionary professionals to serve as volunteers in the following strategic roles for a 6-month period:
1. Finance & Accounting Management Executive
Role Summary:
Support the financial planning, budgeting, and reporting functions of AETF. Maintain transparent financial records, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and contribute to financial sustainability strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
- Monitor fund disbursements and cash flows
- Support the development of financial policies and systems
- Assist with donor financial reporting and audits
Ideal Candidate:
Finance graduate or professional with 3+ years of accounting or financial management experience. Knowledge of non-profit or development finance is a plus.

2. Experienced Auditor (Internal Controls & Compliance)
Role Summary:
Ensure internal control systems are robust and effective. Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments, and provide recommendations for improved financial and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial and operational audits
- Evaluate compliance with policies and donor requirements
- Identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Review internal control systems and suggest improvements
Ideal Candidate:
Certified internal or external auditor with at least 3 years’ experience in private sector audits of an Educational Trust Fund.
Knowledge and Understanding of Trust Laws and Trust Fund Management Laws in any of the African Countries.

3. Legal Advisor (Governance & Compliance)
Role Summary:
Advise on legal matters relating to governance, fundraising, partnership agreements, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and review legal agreements and MOUs
- Provide legal support for cross-border fundraising activities
- Support intellectual property, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution
- Assist with reviewing of the AETF Constitution; legal agreement and contracts.
- Assisting with compliance with relevant laws and regulations including the Ghana Companies Act; Tax Laws etc.
Ideal Candidate:
Licensed lawyer with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in nonprofit law, corporate governance, or international legal frameworks.

4. Grant Writing & Fundraising Executive
Role Summary:
Drive AETF’s fundraising strategy by identifying opportunities, writing grant proposals, and building relationships with donors and development partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify grant/funding opportunities
- Draft compelling proposals, grant applications, and donor reports
- Assist in organizing fundraising campaigns and donor outreach
- Maintain a database of donors and partners
- Maintain communication and follow up with potential donors, funders and partners
Ideal Candidate:
Strong writing and research skills with experience in fundraising or development work. Previous success in securing donor funds is an advantage.

5. Digital Marketing & Sales Executive
Role Summary:
Build AETF’s digital presence and reach using effective marketing strategies and campaigns across platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage content for social media, website, and newsletters
- Increase online visibility through SEO and paid ads
- Support fundraising and advocacy campaigns online
- Manage analytics and engagement metrics
Ideal Candidate:
Tech-savvy marketer with proficiency in digital tools, content creation, and social media strategy.

6. Project Management Executive
Role Summary:
Coordinate the implementation of AETF’s projects and activities, ensuring goals are achieved on time and within scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, monitoring, and evaluation of projects
- Prepare status updates and reports
- Coordinate between stakeholders and departments
- Track progress and suggest course corrections when needed
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in managing private or development projects. PMP or PRINCE2 certification is an asset.

7. Media & Communications Executive
Role Summary:
Develop strategic communication plans and manage public relations, content development, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft press releases, speeches, and official statements
- Develop and distribute newsletters and annual reports
- Foster relationships with media houses and partners
- Ensure brand consistency and storytelling across platforms
Ideal Candidate:
Background in journalism, PR, or communications. Strong writing and storytelling ability essential.

8. Strategic and Business Planning Volunteer
Role Summary:
Support AETF in developing and refining strategic frameworks, business models, and operational roadmaps to achieve its long-term goals—especially the ambitious $10 billion and $100 billion fundraising targets. This role will help align the Trust Fund’s mission with actionable, measurable strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review AETF’s strategic plans and business frameworks
- Assist in creating short, medium, and long-term operational roadmaps
- Analyse internal and external data to support evidence-based decision-making
- Support the design of fundraising models and partnership engagement strategies
- Align program initiatives with the Fund’s core objectives and impact metrics
- Work with departments to set KPIs, monitor progress, and recommend course corrections
- Assist with scenario planning, risk assessment, and sustainability planning
Ideal Candidate:
A background in strategic planning, business development, economics, public policy, or related fields. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with knowledge of nonprofit or education sectors in Africa. Experience with business modelling and strategic frameworks (e.g., Theory of Change, Balanced Scorecard) is a plus.
